Learning-Driven Leadership Coaching Program Perth

Leaders who think clearly, influence well and lead through complexity.

Learning-Driven Leadership Coaching Program

Successful organisations are not built by effort alone. They are built by leaders who know how to think clearly, influence others and design teams that work. Learning Driven Leadership Coaching (LDLC) is Cognito’s structured coaching process designed to build High Influence Leader Skills (HILS) while strengthening the leadership and team architecture that drives organisational performance.

LDLC is valuable for experienced leaders navigating complex organisational issues and emerging leaders stepping into leadership for the first time. Through focused coaching, leaders develop the capability to lead people well, make better decisions and confidently navigate the challenges that arise as organisations grow.

Why most leadership development does not stick

As organisations grow, leadership challenges become more complex. Decisions carry greater consequences. People issues become more nuanced. Teams require clearer direction and stronger leadership. And leaders are often required to navigate situations that have no simple answer.

At the same time, many organisations are developing new and emerging leaders who must quickly learn how to lead people, guide teams and make sound leadership decisions. Without support, emerging leaders can struggle to transition from being strong individual contributors to effective leaders.

This is rarely a motivation problem. More often it is a leadership skill, judgement and team design challenge. Without the right capability and structures, organisations become overly dependent on a small number of individuals rather than supported by a strong leadership system.

LDLC is designed to help both experienced and emerging leaders build the capability required to lead effectively through these challenges.

Coaching that works with real leadership situations, not hypothetical ones

Learning Driven Leadership Coaching is a structured coaching process that helps leaders learn directly from real leadership situations while actively strengthening their leadership capability. Rather than focusing only on advice, LDLC develops leaders through reflection, challenge and practical application.

Each coaching conversation supports leaders to:

  • Think more clearly about complex leadership situations
  • Strengthen their High Influence Leader Skills (HILS)
  • Lead people and teams with greater clarity and influence
  • Design stronger leadership and accountability structures
  • Work through difficult leadership challenges as they arise

For emerging leaders, LDLC provides guidance and development as they learn how to lead people and navigate their first leadership responsibilities. For experienced leaders, it provides a space to think through complex organisational challenges and strengthen leadership influence at a higher level.

Built for leaders at every stage of their journey

Business Owners and Senior Leaders

For those navigating complex organisational challenges who need clear thinking and trusted support when making important decisions. LDLC provides a structured space to work through the leadership issues that come with growth, change and increasing complexity.

Leaders Responsible for Teams

For leaders who manage people and need to develop stronger influence, clearer communication and better accountability within their teams. LDLC helps these leaders shift from directing work to developing the thinking and capability of others.

Emerging and Newly Appointed Leaders

For those stepping into leadership for the first time who need guidance as they learn to lead people, navigate new responsibilities and build confidence in their leadership approach. LDLC accelerates this transition so emerging leaders become effective faster.

Leadership Teams

For organisations seeking stronger alignment and leadership capability across their leadership group. When LDLC is combined with Cognito’s workshop programs (LSLT or Explicit Empathy), it becomes the mechanism that turns shared learning into individual practice.

The skills at the centre of LDLC

At the centre of LDLC is the development of High Influence Leader Skills. These are the capabilities that enable leaders to influence thinking, guide people effectively and create environments where individuals and teams can perform at their best.

Through LDLC, leaders strengthen their ability to:

  • Communicate with clarity and purpose
  • Ask questions that develop thinking and ownership
  • Lead conversations that resolve issues rather than escalate them
  • Build trust and psychological safety within teams
  • Guide decision making in complex situations
  • Create accountability and responsibility across the organisation

These skills enable leaders to move beyond managing tasks and instead lead people and organisations with confidence and influence.

Leadership capability alone is not enough

For organisations to perform consistently, leadership must be supported by clear team design and organisational structure. LDLC works alongside Cognito’s approach to Leadership and Team Design, helping leaders clarify roles and responsibilities, strengthen accountability structures, align leadership teams around shared direction and build systems that allow teams to operate with confidence and ownership.

The result is not just stronger individual leaders, but stronger teams and a more effective leadership system across the organisation.

A structured coaching process built around real leadership challenges

The process begins with two initial two-hour sessions. These extended conversations allow time to understand the leader’s context, explore the leadership and team dynamics within the organisation, and identify the key drivers that will have the greatest impact on leadership effectiveness and organisational performance. The focus is to create clarity and momentum quickly so leaders can begin strengthening their influence and addressing the issues that matter most.

Following these initial sessions, leaders typically continue with a series of one-hour coaching sessions designed to support ongoing development and the application of learning in real organisational situations. A common starting structure is four one-hour sessions, allowing leaders to continue developing their High Influence Leader Skills while working through the leadership challenges that arise in their teams and organisations.

The timing and frequency of sessions is flexible, shaped by the leader’s needs and the context of the organisation. Some leaders schedule sessions more frequently during periods of change or complexity, while others engage in coaching over a longer period as part of their ongoing leadership development.

Each session follows a clear structure:

Reflection

Understanding the leadership challenge or opportunity currently being faced.

Exploration

Examining the thinking, decisions and behaviours shaping the situation.

Development

Strengthening High Influence Leader Skills and leadership judgement.

Application

Application

To maximise the value of each session, leaders are often provided with short pre-reading or reflection prompts before coaching conversations. These help focus attention on key leadership situations and encourage thoughtful preparation so the time together can be used productively.

What leaders and organisations experience

Leaders who engage in LDLC typically experience:

  • Greater clarity in decision making
  • Stronger influence within their teams
  • Improved leadership conversations that build trust and resolve issues
  • Increased confidence navigating complex people issues
  • Stronger team accountability and ownership
  • Leadership teams that function with greater alignment and trust

Over time, organisations benefit from clearer leadership, stronger teams and improved organisational performance.
